        Author Denys Beames
Author Denys Beames was the first-ever bicycle safety coordinator in Canada for the City of Toronto. While there he helped develop the Can-Bike program of cycling traffic education for the Canadian Cycling Association and is a National Examiner in that program.

COURSES OFFERED

CAN-BIKE II Instructors Refresher Course

For instructors who have been inactive and want to resume teaching, this course brings them up to date and refreshes their knowledge of the course content and teaching methods.

CAN-BIKE I Instructors Refresher Course

For Can-Bike I instructors who have been inactive and want to resume teaching, this course brings them up to date and refreshes their knowledge of the course content and teaching methods.

CAN-BIKE Instructor Workshop For CAN-BIKE 2 Graduates

18-24 hours. Become a CAN-BIKE instructor! To qualify for the CAN-BIKE Instructor Workshop you must successfully complete CAN-BIKE 2, and be assessed as an Instructor Candidate. Ask an instructor about qualifying for this workshop. Participants further increase their cycling skills and learn effective teaching techniques, including course planning and risk management. The workshop covers class curriculum, risk management, and administration.

CAN-BIKE Skills II/Skills I Instructor

Ages 17+, the Can-bike II course with extra content to introduce cyclists to teaching the Can-Bike courses.

CAN-BIKE Skills II

Ages 14+, 18 hours of advanced skill and knowledge development in defensive cycling for commuter and recreational cyclists who already ride in traffic. Includes classroom bike handling skills and riding in all traffic conditions. This course will improve your skill and confidence in riding in challenging traffic situations. CAN-BIKE 1 is not a pre-requisite for CAN-BIKE 2. This certificate course is quite often a requirement for jobs that involve cycling and a pre-requisite for many bike squad members across Canada.

CAN-BIKE Skills I

Ages 14+, 12 hours for cyclists who already ride on residential streets or bike paths. Develop skills and build confidence in low traffic neighborhoods.
